"This is a great opportunity for us to further our awarness of Mitochondrial Disease... although the campaign is not specifically dealing with one disease, just being able to have the term mitochondrial disease mentioned to so many state workers and employees ( which includes all legislators, et., wink, wink... ) is fantastic for the movement of "Mito" awarness!"

This was Taryns billboard which was along the 91 freeway in Riverside County, CA, which is one of the busiest freeways in the southland. Thanks to Assemblyman Jeff Miller for helping with this.

Assemblyman Jeff Miller presents Taryn with the new California Annual Mitochondrial Disease Awareness week proclamation! This creates a permanent Mitochondrial awareness week in our state! The week is the third week in September which conforms with what other states are doing.
We had met the Assemblyman when he was the Mayor of our home town of Corona. He came to our home and met Taryn. Jeff promised that when he got to the assembly he would see to it that the resolution would be properly done and would lobby for its passing, which he did! It was memorable for him because it was his first bill passed as an Assemblyman! This resolution, and the awareness week is for everyone dealing with mito, no matter who you may or may not be affiliated with... it is not specific for any group or foundation... it is inclusive for ALL!!
